There is a secret group of people within our society that I have only recently come to realise existed. You probably think that this all sounds like the ramblings of one of those conspiratory theory guys who sees plots everywhere, but I am not talking about this though. What I’m referring to is the number of people who are going around wearing perfect clones of designer watches (i.e. replica Breitling, replica Cartier or Omega replica). You might never realise when you meet one of the members of this fellowship because their lips are sealed about the cost of their timepieces; most people do not choose to advertise the fact.
These watches are completely convincing and if it wasn’t for the fact that a colleague of mine let it slip that his was one of these perfect clones then I never would have guessed. It is impossible to tell his watch from the expensive ones so who knows how many people are wearing these replicas. Well needless to say, I wasted no time procuring one of these perfect clones and now have everyone around me convinced that I’ve spent thousands of dollars on my watch. If only they knew. It feels like I have joined a underground movement and now every time I see someone wearing a designer watch I wonder if they are in on the game.
I will probably never discover just how many of my acquaintances belong to our fellowship of perfect clone timepiece wearers; we are a very secretive society. Like all underground movements you need to learn to keep things to yourself so this is why my lips are sealed. There is no need to tell anyone how much I paid for the watch. I am happy for them to continue thinking that I’ve come into a lot of money.
